Using a barcode scanner will allow you to automatically add products with assigned barcodes to the cart. It can also be used when selling physical gift cards, using existing gift cards, and linking SKUs to existing products.

Setting Up the Barcode Scanner

  1. Make sure your Inateck BCST-70 barcode scanner is charged and turned on. Keep the User Guide nearby during setup.
Digital barcodes displayed on phones, computers or tablets cannot be read. The barcodes shown on this page are for reference only. You can find and print a copy of the manual from the Inateck website.
  1. Scan the [Enter Setup] and [Bluetooth Pairing] barcodes in the User Guide.
  1. Go to your iPad settings, select Bluetooth pair the barcode scanner. This will show up as BCST-70. The barcode scanner will beep once if the Bluetooth connection is successful.
If Bluetooth connection is disrupted, the barcode scanner will sound two short tones.
  1. To add more barcode types, scan the [Enter Setup] barcode and use the Function Setup Barcodes page.
Common barcode types like Code 128, Code 39 and UPC are preloaded in the default setting of the scanner.
  1. Once you are done adding the barcodes, make sure to save your changes by scanning the [Exit with Save] barcode.
  1. Navigate to the POS Advanced Settings and toggle Bluetooth Barcode Scanner to ON.
  1. Close and reopen the POS. Your Bluetooth barcode scanner is now ready to be used!

Scan Product Barcodes

Use the barcode scanner to update barcodes, assign new barcodes to existing products and quickly add items to cart.

  1. Scan a barcode. If the barcode is not in the system, you can assign it to an existing product. If the product has a barcode assigned already, the newly scanned barcode that is assigned will overwrite the existing barcode.
  1. Once the barcode is assigned to a product, it will be automatically added to cart whenever it is scanned.

Scan Physical Gift Card Barcodes

Sell physical gift cards or search up existing gift cards without manually typing in the card number.

The Bluetooth barcode scanner cannot scan digital gift cards. You can use the Stripe card reader or the iPad to scan digital gift card barcodes.
  1. Navigate to the Gift Card button on the POS and tap into the empty Gift Card Number section. Scan the physical gift card barcode to input the digits automatically.
  1. When using Gift Cards as a payment type, tap into the search bar and scan the physical gift card barcode.
