Text Marketing Guidelines

Text marketing consent refers to the explicit permission given by individuals to receive promotional or informational text messages from a business. It is a fundamental requirement in most states to ensure that businesses comply with laws and regulations related to privacy and communication, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

To obtain text marketing consent, Dripos customers must follow specific guidelines:

Opt-in Requirement:

Individuals must voluntarily opt in to receive text messages. This means they need to actively express their consent to receive marketing communications via SMS. Businesses cannot add individuals to their text marketing lists without their permission. Furthermore, consent can’t be bought, sold, or exchanged. For example, you can’t obtain the consent of message recipients by purchasing a phone list from another party.

Clear Disclosure:

Businesses must clearly inform individuals about what type of content they will receive when they opt-in. Transparency is key to ensuring that subscribers know what they are signing up for.

Easy Opt-out Option:

Every text message should include a simple and clear opt-out option, such as replying “STOP” to unsubscribe. Individuals must be able to withdraw their consent and stop receiving messages at any time.

Texting Your Number

To opt in to text marketing at your shop, patrons text START to your text marketing number. We suggest posting a sign in your shop with your text marketing number and a message prompting customers to text that number to receive updates and promotions. Texting anything except for “STOP” to that number will also accomplish an effective opt in.

Example: Woohoo! We’re introducing text marketing at (Shop), Text Start to XXX-XXX-XXXX to receive updates and promotions!

Checkbox on Order Website

Patrons can also opt in to text marketing by checking off an optional box on your order website on the checkout screen. Here’s an example of what that looks like from a patron’s view:

Checkbox on Card Reader (S700 Only)

For customers who have the new Stripe S700 card reader set up in our front facing reader mode, newly created patrons on the reader will also be prompted to opt-in as a text marketing subscriber. Note that this pop up only appears when new patrons are created.

Default Subscription List

All subscribed patrons will be added to a default subscription list. Access this list from the web dashboard under Marketing > Marketing Campaigns.

Then click Subscribers on the left side tab.

That should bring up a page that looks like this:

Click View to access your Default Subscription List.
