Automatic Gratuity
Use Auto-gratuity to charge an automatic tip amount after a certain threshold
If your shop has an Auto-Gratuity policy, this can be easily incorporated into the normal checkout flow on the Dripos Point of Sale.
Auto-gratuity is applied based on rules you can customize based on your workflow or policy. Set up these rules on the Web Dashboard using the Gratuity Page.
Set up Autogratuity Rules
- Log onto your Dripos Web Dashboard and navigate to Sales > Checkout Flow > Gratuity:
- You will be taken to the Gratuity Page. Press Create Rule:
- A pop-up will appear. Fill out the required fields:
Gratuity Rule Name - Name your rule here, e.x. ‘20% after 10 items’ or ‘Auto-gratuity on Specialty Bakery.’
Type - Here, select ‘All,’ ‘Product,’ or ‘Category,’ to determine what type of rule you’re creating. Selecting ‘All’ will mean that the rule will be applied based on your entire menu, while ‘Product,’ or ‘Category,’ will make the rule only apply when certain products are added into the cart.
If you select the type ‘Product’ or ‘Category,’ a new dropdown will appear prompting you to select the products/ categories you’d like to include in the rule.
Threshold Type - Select ‘Count’ or ‘Dollar’. Count should be used if you want to apply autogratuity based on the number of products in the cart. Dollar should be used if you want to apply auto-gratuity based on the dollar value in the cart. Apply Threshold - Type in the threshold you’d like your auto-gratuity rule to apply at. For example, if you enter in ‘10,’ your rule will apply either after 10 products are added to the cart or $10 worth of products is added to the cart, depending on the threshold type. Gratuity Amount (Percent) - Type in the tip percentage you want to be automatically applied when the rule thresholds are met.
- Press Add to finalize. Your new rule will now appear on the Gratuity Page, where you can edit it, disable it, or enable it for POS use at any time:
Checking Out with Auto-gratuity
-
Start a normal checkout on the Point of Sale Register.
-
Make sure your order passes the threshold for one of your auto-gratuity rules. Ie. if your auto-gratuity rule says that checking out with 8+ products automatically triggers a 20% tip, ensure there are 8 or more products in your cart.
- You will be able to tell if auto-gratuity has been applied if you see a Tip amount on your POS before a payment method has been selected:
If you would like to remove the autogratuity on the order, press the Remove Auto-Gratuity button:
You can always re-add autogratuity to an order.
- Finish the checkout process as normal.
Allow Tipping on Top of Auto-gratuity
Some shops may want to allow for tipping on top of already added auto-gratuity. To turn this setting on/off:
- On the Point of Sale, navigate to Settings > Tipping.
- Note the setting called Allow Tipping on Autogratuity. If this is On, patrons will be prompted to leave a tip even if auto-gratuity has been applied to a transaction.
- Toggle the setting to your preferences. If your tip options appear on the card reader, you may need to refresh or restart the reader for changes to sync over.
